Berta, Berta

My first freelance work for Mile Square Theatre was to make newspaper-style posters with the themes of this play, for use as part of the show’s lobby decorations. I made multiple decals, and had to fit all the information in while making it visually pleasing and period appropriate.

High Tech Voices Literary Magazine

I was assistant art director for the 2022-23 edition of my school literary magazine, pictured below. I helped set the look for the publication, designed some layouts, created ornamental illustration, and contributed art and writing works to the project. For the 2023-24 edition, I am the senior art director and am currently working with the other members of the editorial board to set themes and goals for this year’s book.

Stairway to Storage

In my Industrial Design and Animation class, I made a storage unit for a desk. The poster below is of my original model, first the prototype, then designed it in Inventor, and used the laser cutter to create the final product. I redid the project, fixing my mistakes and making the structure more solid. I intend to make a third and final model where all the kinks are worked out.

Biophilic Pavilion

In my Architecture and Design class, I designed a biophilic pavilion, using systems found in nature as inspiration. I designed this pavilion with the idea of placing it on our school campus (in theory), so I made relaxing room on top of our campus marsh. It stands on stilts and collects rainwater for distribution throughout the school, mirroring the natural filtration and irrigation system of the butterfly weed. The water flows down the pavilion through tubes shaped according to the golden ratio, generating soothing music, reminiscent of how songbirds and katydids produce their melodies. Additionally, a section of the roof is constructed from stained glass to symbolize the luminescent wings of butterflies.
